If Your Mac’s Hard Disk Runs Out of Space: Do This

If Your Mac’s Hard Disk Runs Out of Space: Do This

Your Mac seems like it always runs out of space and when it starts to get full it is likely to slow down. This makes it important for you to start making hard decisions on which files you really need and which you can give up and lose.

When you run out of space for your Mac, you can do some cleaning of your system which will involve deleting old, unused, and unnecessary files. When you have used your Mac for quite some time already, you must know that the items that you put in the systems ‘Trash'are kept there and on your hard disk until the it is emptied.

If you want more space, you can do more than this but you have to have some time to get it all done. You can format your hard disk while you backup your documents first. You can then reinstall all of your Mac’s applications and the documents that you need. This ensures a bigger hard disk space.

This task, indeed, will take you even a day or more. This is especially true when you have had a failure in your hard disk and were compelled to perform to this function. However, it is undeniably true that when you are done with this task, your hard disk will look big and empty again.

You can also get information on IT support to help you out should you need to take this much further. You may be advised to dump more files and programs that you do not need or change out your hard disk for one with a larger capacity.

Mac: Antivirus Protection

Mac: Antivirus Protection

Security is a number one priority in the real world and in the virtual world. Computers play an ever increasing important role in our lives, so it is essential to fight against cyber threats. On the Windows Operating system it is made a point to have antivirus software installed however you will notice that many times there is not one on a Macintosh Operating system. This is actually due to the lie that Mac users do not need an antivirus. As important as it is to keep Windows based systems safe from viruses, trojan horses and malware, it is just as important to keep Mac systems safe as well. Keeping data safe and secure is important no matter what the operating system is.

Some of the best Antivirus programs for Mac are:

iAntivirus – This antivirus program is free and very popular. It will detect and take out any specific threats to the Mac system.

McAfee Antivirus – McAfee has the latest scanning and antivirus technology. There are problems with McAfee though because it is not targeted toward individual machines. For the professional world it provides excellent protection across the network.

Norton Antivirus 11.0 – The Norton antivirus is offered by Symantec and has all the basic options for antiviruses. Those who have a dual operating system will probably choose this antivirus as it is the most effective. It may not be able to deal with the threats that are specific to Mac however it will work fine on the Windows.

If you don’t get an antivirus program for you Mac you are putting your computer at risk unnecessarily. You would think if only you could keep your information and data in document storage away from exposure to viruses'right? Well, if you have the appropriate antivirus you sure can keep you computer and data safe.

iPhone 5 set for September?

It was only a matter of time, but the new iPhone (although yet to be officially announced by Apple) is predicted for launch in September according to an article in The Guardian.

As iPhone users are fully aware, the iPhone 4 is perhaps the best and most original Smartphone on the market today. There have been many rival companies trying to usurp Apple’s market position in recent months but industry experts know that is unlikely ever to happen. So what can we expect from the iPhone 5?

To be honest the design is unlikely to change much from the current generation. Rumours that there will be no visible buttons on the side of the phone at all have excited many but perhaps the most controversial element will be whether or not Apple will hold up its hands and revert back to the standard sized sim card it had with the 3G model. Many iPhone 4 users were enraged when the smartphone was released with a different sized sim card to the industry standard. Despite the fact that a converter was released soon afterwards it did nothing to stop the critical finger being pointed at Apple yet again. Being locked into a contract with only approved suppliers has become a trademark gripe for iPhone users. The converter allowed normal sims to be placed into the phone and with a good roaming sim only available on other networks, using an iPhone abroad became an expensive proposition.

Many will be hoping that when the iPhone 5 is released later this year, Apple will have responded to its critics.
